Kirkcarrion Highland Ponies (and a Welsh Cob)

Highland Pony Society Stallion Premium Awards, 5 March 2000

The Highland Pony Society runs an annual Premium scheme to display to breeders a range of Highland Pony stallions with a good selection of bloodlines. Funding from the Horserace Betting Levy Board has now ceased, so no payments are made to the stallion owners or to those who breed foals from the premium stallions, but the prestige has, for now, meant that the scheme has been continued.

As a condition of appearing, the owners must be prepared to take in visiting mares.

The following stallions were successful this year:

Kestrel of Fourmerk (328/94) f.27.4.94. Black 14.2hh by Atholl of Fourmerk (428/91) out of Kelpiedene (28/91). Bred and owned by Mr and Mrs R Alexander of Kippen, Stirling.
Moss-side Domnhach (258/94) f.24.4.94. Dark grey dun 13.3 1/4hh (141cm) by Strathmore Concorde (3/84) out of Iona O'Kinnoull (99/91). Bred and owned by W & J Ralston, Methven, Perthshire.

NB Both these stallions were also awarded a Premium last year.

Viscount of Whitefield (11/89) f.2.4.87. Dapple grey 14.1hh by Sergeant Major of Whitefield (12/86) out of Morag of Dunmhor (58/69). Bred and owned by Messrs G M Baird, West Whitefield, Burrelton, Perthshire.
