Kilmannan Stud - Dales Ponies in Scotland

First foal of the 1999 season born 5am on 22 April. Raecleugh Peggy produced an all black filly Kilmannan Amber . Then on 26 April Trimdon Black Velvet produced a colt foal Kilmannan Black Magic . Both are by Slaypits Black Magic.

Most of the ponies bred at Kilmannan Stud by Mr W Ireland are by either Slaypits Black Magic, or Lowside Diamond.

First Slaypits Black Magic, a superb Dales stallion who excels in the show ring, with big wins under saddle like the NPS show at Malvern 1997.

But is as showy at home, when off duty as when working!

And this is Lowside Diamond, who is an 8yo but was cut in March 1998 and is now doing well under saddle, including qualification for Olympia in 1998, where I believe he was best of his breed (correct me if I'm wrong!).

Of the homebred ponies, Kilmannan Sapphire, a young filly is doing very well in-hand
as is Kilmannan Black Piper under saddle. And there are many more ponies coming along well in both spheres of showing.

For those interested in breeding and the formation of studs, here are details of the Dales ponies that were at Kilmannan Stud in 1998, including their registered numbers and dates of birth:
