Welcome to the inner workings of SOMIS - Out of date. I must update the page.
This page is effectively for techies who may want to know more about this server, HTML and the WWW.
Powered by:
Hardware:

- 2 IBM Ultra Star 2.1Gb ultra wide disks. They operate under RAID 1 (mirrored).
- 1 IBM Ultra Star 4.5Gb ultra wide disk. Set up as a hot spare, able to replace any of the other 6 disks if they fail.

About the Web Administrator
My name is Charles Christacopoulos (no prizes for being able to pronounce or spell it).
I am a Senior Administrative Assitant at the Secretary's Office.
You will probably find more often than I would like typing errors on this site. The problem is,
first, I am not a "two finger" typist and as a result I look neither at the screen nor at the keyboard.
In reality, I can just about manage to look out of the window whilst typing.
Second, I use a plain editor to compose all the index and general pages (like this one), so I do not have the facility of spell checking.
Now that I've got the spelling clarification out of the way, one more explanation before I get "hate mail".
Through out this site I use the term WebMaster as opposed to the more Politically Correct Web Administrator. My choice for
WebMaster was rather simple. I wanted to keep at a minimum the space used at the footers of pages, which is where I use the term WebMaster.
On a 640x480 monitor, the footers can some times take nearly all the screen, thus it was important to try and save
as many letters as possible.
